Camerata of Naples

Camerata of Naples

Chamber Orchestra

Camerata of Naples Chamber Orchestra was officially launched with its debut concert in December 2021. Co-founded by musicians Boris Sandler and Bella Gutshtein, Camerata is the culmination of their many decades of professional experience in classical music performance. With Boris as President and Music Director and Bella as Artistic Director, Camerata has enjoyed an overwhelmingly successful debut season and is poised to continue delivering unique and meaningful programming in 2022-23

The idea for Camerata was born out of Boris and Bella’s interest in creating a dedicated chamber music orchestra with excellent local musicians to present a diverse repertoire of classical masterworks.

Inspired by the original Camerata, a 16th century Italian society of intellectuals, poets and musicians who came together to revive ancient music, Camerata of Naples seeks to follow in this tradition of paying tribute to the rich history of classical music. While Camerata’s musical selections span a broad range of time periods, the orchestra has placed a special emphasis on early and Baroque pieces, each of which features the harpsichord, lending a true authenticity to the experience.

In its first season (2022,) Camerata took up residency at the the beautiful St. John’s Church in Naples, where they performed four sold-out concerts. This season, due to the hurricane damage incurred by St. John’s Church, Camerata will temporarily change venues to Moorings Presbyterian Church- another excellent venue.  Regardless of location, Camerata seeks to immerse audiences in the authentic experience of expertly performed classical music, to stimulate their minds and uplift their spirits.
